What you require to register a sole proprietorship in Kenya?

What do you need when you are ready to register your sole proprietorship? Below are the things you need.

1. At least 3 names. The eCitizen platform will then choose the available name from these 3. If all of them are taken, you will then be required to submit another name. Have a maximum of 5 names.

2. Business address Don't worry, you can also use your home address. Ensure you have a postal address, postal code, mobile number and business email address.

3. Certification Regarding the nature of your business, you'll be required to upload your certification. E.g., if registering a medical facility, you'll be required to upload a medical practitioners board certificate.

However, there are business that require no certification, e.g., printing services, retails shops etc

4. Passport photo You don't require to go to studio. You can even take one using your phone or crop a full picture.

5. And as obvious, ensure you have your National ID details in order.

6. Money: Make sure you have money. It costs Kshs 2000 to register a business name with us.

When you have these in place, you are now set to register your small business as a sole proprietorship.
